THE ROLE

PETRONAS has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Natural Gas Marketing Representative to join our marketing team in Calgary, AB. The successful candidate will be a confident team player, self-starter with strong communication and critical-thinking skills, good economic thought processes, overall business acumen and the ability to perform under pressure with multiple deadlines. This position will report directly to the Manager, Marketing. The successful incumbent will turn fundamental analysis into point-of-views and commercial strategies for natural gas hedging and marketing opportunities in North America. This will include building models and maintaining databases for market pricing, fundamental models, and reporting, as well as preparing presentation materials and ad hoc reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Development of technical (Excel etc) models to accurately reflect and predict market conditions and opportunities
• Price tracking of various key North American market hubs
• Developing natural gas hedging strategies for PETRONAS gas production
• Execution of hedging contracts (physical and financial)
• Interaction with external counterparties including end use customers, marketers and pipelines
• Provide short and medium term fundamental market view to support and provide marketing recommendations
• Calculate value added from marketing activities
• Ensure databases are maintained, including market pricing, hedge position, and fundamental models
• Perform data acquisition, data reporting, and chart/graph creation
• Provide support position tracking for hedges
• Prepare presentation materials for both regularly scheduled and ad hoc meetings
• Liaison with Accounting & Risk groups on marketing related activities
• Any other assignments or projects when requested

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• University Degree in Business or Commerce
• Minimum 10 years of related industry experience
• Strong fundamental understanding of North American Natural Gas Markets
• Commercially oriented person with strong analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• An understanding of economic theories and principles, and fundamental statistical analysis will be considered assets
• High level of proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
• A self-starter who is detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills is required
• Ability to work independently and also in cooperation with a larger team
• Individual must have a strong customer focus, very developed organizational skills with attention to detail, and be able to multitask to, at times meet challenging deadlines
• Team player, must possess the ability to work under pressure, but be able to work independently in an open area environment
• Comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment
• Open and honest team player with strong communication skills
• Positive and engaging personality
• Flexible, influential and assertive when required
