Expectation of Success

PMA Wine Brand Managers are responsible for 16 suppliers and 63 individual brands, excluding shareholder portfolio Distell. Retail sales make up about 90% of wine sales, and the industry is highly competitive

  • with numerous brands in each category, all competing for new listings, market share, and activity to influence consumer purchase decisions. Brand analytics, the strategic management of liquor board applications for new SKUs, and successful execution of consumer facing activations are all critical components of success. This is a newly created position to support Wine Brand Managers in planning and execution of these priorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Role Mission

Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to provide PMA Wine Brand Managers with supplier reporting and analytic support, tracking of liquor board tenders and management of application submissions, management of wine shows, and other administrative marketing support as required. The Marketing Coordinator intern will also act as a steward and champion PMA brands.

Key Deliverables

Work alongside provincial Trade Development Mangers & Coordinators to deliver materials for customer pre-pitches and open liquor board tenders for new listing applications. Support Brand Managers with supplemental presentation materials to support board applications as required, which include communication of brand credentials, data on brand performance from other leading markets, category and industry trends, and investment scenarios.

  • Liaise directly with supplier export contacts to obtain relevant information for product calls (eg. product specs, FOB pricing, bottle shots, etc.), and manage procurement and shipment of product samples
  • Work alongside Trade Development teams to develop and manage a national calendar of Wine Shows and events, and oversee all applications, and the hiring and management of sampling show staff and support as required
  • Manage liquor board retail sampling bookings for all wine brands
  • Oversee development of sales support and custom selling tools as required. For example, development of portfolio sell sheets for all brands, leveraging PMA best-practice templates and ACD and provincial liquor board data to develop key selling stories by province
  • Support Brand Managers with supplier reporting pack commentary, category and competitive performance analysis on a monthly basis
  • Support Trade Development teams in the management of brand library assets
  • overseeing sourcing updated bottle shots, tasting notes, and specs for existing brands and new listing applications
  • Develop and oversee the management of all supplier itineraries and in field plans for in-market visits and field activity
  • Provide administrative support as needed to Brand Managers

Experience Required, Knowledge and Skills

Working towards a Business Degree (or similar) with a focus on Sales or Marketing

  • Experience working within the beverage alcohol industry is a plus
  • 1-2+ years' experience in a marketing & sales role ideal
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office software (Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook)
