We are currently seeking a Director, Communications for our Surrey Corporate Office. You're a proven communicator with a big picture focus, change management expertise and a deep commitment to supporting culture through high-transparency internal communications. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Leadership

  • Liaising with and supporting the Executive Leadership and Prospera Leadership Teams and oversee all incoming communications requests within the organization.
  • Leading confidential and sensitive initiatives, issues, or media enquiries, with help of external agencies or consultants, where needed.
  • Guiding the activities of the Communications team including budgeting, planning, training, professional development, and mentorship.
  • Establishing and monitoring employee performance and development goals, assigning accountabilities, establishing priorities, conducting annual performance reviews, and administering salary adjustments.

Strategy

  • Playing a key role in the internal and external rebrand strategy, and going forward, ensuring consistency in representing the new brand across all channels.
  • Monitoring competitors, researching best practices, and making recommendations to ensure Prospera remains progressive with respect to its public relations and communications practices.
  • Develop our corporate social responsibility and diversity and inclusion strategies that add to our employer brand.

Public Relations

  • Cultivating and maintaining meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, credit unions, regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Fulfilling the organization's commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.
  • Supporting the Vice President, Marketing and the Vice President Family Banking/Consumer Operations with member inquiries and concerns elevated from the branches and contact centre with respect to public relations.
  • Achieve earned media attention which promotes our employer brand and employee value proposition.

Communications

  • Managing the review and final approval of all written materials and corporate print communications.

WHAT YOU BRING:

Education

Bachelor's degree or technical certificate in Communications or a related field.

Experience

  • 10 years' experience

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience

COMPETENCIES

  • Extensive experience leading the planning and execution of corporate and employee communications, preferably in a large corporate environment.
  • Detailed working knowledge of communications practices and processes and of social media tools and tactics.
  • Senior experience supporting broad and complex change initiatives that require advanced communications guidance and support.
  • Experience working with senior executives in a communications coaching/counsel capacity.
  • Strategic thinking/planning ability with a demonstrated track record in issues management and problem solving, including seeking, creating and championing creative communications solutions for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong client relationship skills with a highly developed interpersonal communications style; self-starter with the ability to balance multiple projects and priorities.
  • Demonstrated team player with ability to motivate and maintain strong working relationships with key internal colleagues and business units, external media contacts, partners and agencies and able to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in developing strategic and operational communications plans.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and portray a professional image of Prospera.
  • Ability to determine the appropriate communications method(s) based on subject, audience and urgency.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change that maximizes employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance.
  • A proven ability to plan, organize and manage the successful completion of projects from start to finish.
