OVERVIEW

We have an immediate opening for a Human Resources Business Partner to join our team in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. This role will have solid line reporting to the HR Director. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience partnering with client groups of 300+ employees, including senior level leaders and professionals. This is a corporate HRBP position, supporting a functional group on a national scale.

To be successful in this role, one must work to become a trusted advisor on people strategies that support the business in acheiving its operational objectives and financial targets. As a strategic advisor to an assigned client group, the HRBP will need to emerse themselves in the business by attending team meetings, planning meetings and other relevant business meetings related to operational initiatives, so that a people strategy is established to support such planning.

The ideal HRBP will be passionate about employee engagement, extremely knowledgable in employee relations, including employment law, have a strong understanding of compensation best practices, experienced in succession planning and performance review processes, plus have the ability to build, influence and maintain strong and trusting relationships with the business, at all levels. If working in a fast-paced environment with the autonomy to make significant impacts within a key client group to support the overall organization's performance, then this role is ideal.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Provide coaching, advice and guidance to leaders on employee relations issues, including; policy violations, investigations, discipline and terminations
  • Lead investigations on employee relations issues
  • Lead investigations on Legal employment issues
  • Accountable to execute Employee Programs developed by COEs
  • Manage organizational change processes and approvals
  • Respond to and make decisions surrounding any compensation issues
  • Responsible for ensuring Total Rewards (salary, benefits, pension, incentive) are administered in support of policies and guidelines
  • Coach,advise and support leaders on all aspects of employee engagement through annual engagement survey and engagement scorecard
  • Manage and support leaders through the annual performance review process
  • Facilitate the performance calibration and succession planning processes
  • Support leaders through the annual salary review process and incentive program
  • Develop and refine position descriptions and assist in job evaluation as required
  • Provide guidance to leaders in areas such as salary recommendations for new hires, transfers, relocations, and promotions

What your resume will demonstrate to us:

  • An Undergraduate Degree with a minimum of five years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience in all components of the generalist Human Resources function
  • Sound knowledge/understanding of provincial employment legislation
  • Demonstrated understanding of human behavior, as well as business management, operations and strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a large number of business partners in a matrix environment (preferred)
  • Ability to influence, coach, and advise business partners effectively
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve conflict
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to conduct investigations and present findings and appropriate resolution
  • Excellent technical HR skills and understanding of employment, Human Rights and Labour laws
  • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to multi-task and work with changing/conflicting priorities
  • Ability to work through difficult, challenging, and sensitive situations
